For over fifty years, the Benjamin L. Hooks Chapter of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) has been committed to advancing diversity initiatives by increasing the development of talented and socially curious lawyers of tomorrow who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. As the largest student-run organization of its kind in the United States, BLSA was founded upon the values of inclusion and opportunity.

The Unity in Diversity Banquet was created to celebrate our unique experiences, differences, and accomplishments that, together, make us stronger. The Banquet highlights a wide array of contributions and achievements, paying particular attention to race, ethnicity, gender, LBGTQ status, and disability status, while promoting diversity in all of its forms as a driver of innovation and excellence. Thanks to the generous support of organizations deeply committed to diversity, we are able to proive more access, opportunity, and resources to law students from various backgrounds pursue a legal education at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
